Message Probably my own fault given the "big guns" that I was wielding when I made the post.

I have never said that all turbos are going to smoke with a free-flowing exhaust; in fact, I've stated the opposite. I've also followed that statement with the fact that not all turbos are built to the exact same tolerances, which is going to account for the fact that some turbos are going to have the issue and some arent.

Because of the fact that most new turbos aren't going to have this problem and some apparently do, I will again say that it is all a matter of machining tolerances that makes the difference. You could get a set of these "voodoo" turbos that work just fine in a car with cats in place and the owner never know the difference so long as they didn't upgrade their exhaust.

If it were me and I had a set of turbos that smoked (and there is a possibility that this may exist even in my own car - I haven't put any miles on her yet and my exhaust is about as free as they get), I would be contacting the builder and expecting them to make good on it.
